If you have a yard, that’s fantastic! Make sure your pet gets enough time outside. If not, try taking a walk around the vicinity or to a nearby park with your pet. Dog parks are also great locations for giving your dog space to run and socialize. Getting some exercise and fresh air will improve their health and happiness – as well as yours!
Make time for playtime.
It’s important to keep your pet’s mind active because a bored pet is more likely to get into mischief. What your pet really wants is to play with you! This is especially important if your pet is intelligent and doesn’t have much room to run around inside. Intelligent pets are more prone to boredom. Even so, regardless of the type of pet you own, you can keep your pet healthy and active by playing interactive, physical games.
Invest in a good scratching post and indoor toys.
If your pet will be spending the bulk of their time indoors, make sure they have more than enough ways to entertain themselves. A nice scratching post will keep your cat’s claws healthy and offer them something other than your furniture to scratch! Cats, especially those who live near a window, may enjoy climbing and exploring. Indoor toys for dogs, such as puzzle feeders and Kongs, can keep their minds occupied and prevent boredom.
Train your pet early on.
A well-trained pet is more likely to be well-behaved and to cause less damage to your rental property. Start potty training, chewing, and scratching training with your new puppy or kitten as soon as possible. It is also essential to provide your pet with a proper sleeping area and train it to go there on command. This can help keep them out of the way when entering, exiting, or entertaining guests.
Give your pet plenty of love and attention.
It should go without saying that this is the most important thing you can do for your pet! Shower your furry friend with plenty of love and attention, no matter how big or small your living space is. They’ll repay the favor by being devoted and affectionate companions. As a result, they’ll be happier and healthier!
